Yeah… About That New Year’s Resolution

So it is that time of the year again where we try to stick to our New Year’s Resolutions.  As most people one of my New Year’s resolution is to loose weight and get in shape.  To help me do this, I bought new exercise DVDs.

I use to do capoeira and wanted to get back into it.  I found this exercise DVD and thought it would be a nice change of pace from my other aerobic style excise DVDs.  This DVD reminds me of my capoeria class.

Next on the list is Shaun T’s Rockin Body.  Shaun T is the guy who does Insanity but this workout is not insane.  I think it is a little weird how the DVD starts out like a concert/So You Think You Can Dance episode with the host sitting in the audience talking about Shaun T’s dance moves.  Then, we are directed to the stage where Shaun T takes over.  I think it is odd there is a studio audience that is watching them exercise.  But, I do give them points for creativity because it is not another gym setting video.  I would not take these moves to the club, but they are fun to do and he makes it fun.  I like the fact they have a count down clock in the corner, because sometimes I would like to know how much of the DVD I have left to complete.

It also comes with an exercise schedule, recipes, and things to avoid to eat when eating out.

Zumba DVDs!  When I use to go to the gym I would take Zumba classes.  Zumba is a very popular exercise class.  I feel like you can take Zumba classes anywhere.  I do not go to the gym anymore, but I can still Zumba with my box of goodies!  Bought it on sale of course, Zumba products can get on the expensive side.  I have a friend that teaches Zumba after she became certified.  I have always been interested in teaching classes at the gym like pilates.

The box comes with two weights.  At first, when I was buying the workout kit, I was like not another pair of weights.  I already have some at different sizes, but when I took one out of the box it sounded like maracas.  I started to smile and said to myself this is going to be a party.  I like to exercise at 5 am (which has been a struggle lately).  I do not think my neighbors would enjoy the sound of maracas that early in the morning.  So I use my normal weights in the morning and/or exercise in the evening with the noise makers.  I also, like that it comes with a 20 minute workout DVD because sometimes you do not have an hour to shimmy shake.
